The annual competition for the Men's Pairs and Ladies Pairs trophies was held on Wednesday 12th March.

Congratulations go to Stuart Davies and George Bak who won the Men's competition with 62.08%. In second place were Alan Jarvis and Mark Armitage.

More Congratulations go to Susan Hoyle and Margaret Andrews who came top in the Ladies section with 55.42% with Liz Brown and Carol Swales as runners up.

There has been a lot of work to do following the flood that did a lot of damage in our Club and some of this work is still ongoing. 

We are extremely grateful to Morris Brown and the rest of the Committee for all their efforts which have been truly magnificent.

So far the following work has been carried out as we proceed with the renovation:-

• We had to have an asbestos report done at the beginning.  The report was negative.
• We have had visits from various people including a man from the dehumidifier company, loss adjusters, and a building surveyor who will organise the repairs to the building. 
• Winders carpets have come and measured up to replace the damaged carpets.
  The electrician was in to do the repairs.  These have been completed and we have an electrical safety certificate.
• Tesla (the burglar alarm company) has got the alarm working after it sustained minimal damage from the flood. We do however need a new alarm bell at some point but this is unrelated to the flood.
• Keybury who do the fire alarm can’t come until 10 March to get the fire system up and running.

The building is drying out but we await the dehumidifiers in situ to complete the process.

At the moment it is not possible to give a date when we may be able to return to our own premises but in the meantime we are enjoying playing bridge at the Estonia Club.

As members will know there has been a catastrophic flood in the Club from a leaking water tank and this has resulted in the temporary closure of our Club premises.   It has now been agreed to hold our drives at the Estonian Club while our own Club is drying out and then being refurbished. There will be Bradford drives at the Estonian Club on

• Tuesday afternoons (starting at 1.30),
• Wednesday evenings (usual 7.10 start) 
• Thursday afternoons (1.30 start) 
• Friday afternoons (1.30 until 4pm)  Social bridge afternoon with Stephen 

• Thursday evenings Additionally, at a different venue, Robert has already started to run his Thursday 'No Fear' evenings - at 7.10 p.m. These are at the Baildon Hall Club on Hallfield Drive (Instead of a table fee, players are asked to buy a drink!) 

The Estonian Club is very close to our own premises and its address is 8, Clifton Villas (off Manningham Lane).  You'll find it on the right just as the road bends.  There is a bar and tea and coffee  (at a charge).    We look forward to seeing you there!

Bradford U3A will, for the time being, also be meeting at the Estonian club for their weekly Wednesday drives at the usual time of 1.30 until approx. 4- 4.15.
